A Place for Puzzlers

What Did Karen Puzzles Ever Do to Them?

Don’t Do an Innocent Karen Like That!

When I first started getting into puzzling, I was trying to figure out the best methods for organizing the pieces. So I did what every modern person does for information, I went to The Internet, specifically to YouTube. There I found a channel by a woman puzzle expert, Karen Puzzles. I am guessing that’s not her real name. I started watching some of her videos and found them informative and engaging. She talked about everything about puzzles, that many people would be afraid to ask, to avoid the embarrassment of seeming like a super nerd.

While her methods were a bit more advanced and tedious than I wanted to employ, such as sorting all pieces by color and shape and aligning them in the same direction, I did take some of her advice, such as keeping a colander in my puzzle room so I could sift out the puzzle dust from the pieces before I dumped them out on the table to build a puzzle. That, I thought was pretty smart!

The thing that struck me though, was that Ms. Puzzles felt the need at one point, after giving advice on sorting pieces, to say, “… and if you want to do it another way, that’s okay, but you don’t need to leave mean comments.“

Are you kidding me? People actually flamed this nice woman innocuously and graciously giving puzzle tips? What has this world come to? On behalf of grateful puzzlers who appreciate that Ms. Puzzles takes her own time and creates videos to help others enjoy building puzzles, we applaud you for your efforts, and we would never say anything negative, even if we build puzzles a completely different way and think our way is better. You go girl. Thanks for your channel and for giving your time to show us your hints of the hobby. Thanks to you, my puzzle table is free of little bits of cardboard that used to drive me crazy. Thank you Karen Puzzles!
